Israel's Premiere Dance Company
Israel's Batsheva dance Company bring Ohad Naharin's eclectic premiere Venezuela to North American in 2019. An exhilarating and boundless whirlwind of movement, Venezuela is an energetic work that celebrates the talents of the esteemed company that blends intriguing choreography with a boundless soundtrack that includes sounds from Rage Against The Machine, Notorious B.I.G, and Gregorian chants!
Baroness Batsheva De Rothschild formed the company in 1964, and installed famed choreographer Martha Graham as its first Artistic Director. Hailed as the 'Picasso of Dance', Graham's influence on the artform was huge, and her work a key foundation on which all of modern dance was built. Following Graham's departure in 1975, Batsheva began to concentrate more on the work of up and coming Israeli choreographers, with Ohad Naharin taking over as Artistic Director in 1990 and propelling the company into a new era.
