When “Trevor” (lighting and sound director) appeared by our seats before the play began and asked if we’d seen a missing dog, we knew we were in for an interesting evening. Hilarious from beginning to end!!! Perhaps not for everyone, but it delighted me and the rest of my family members. The creative set and over-the-top characters kept us looking forward to the next disaster. Go see it Richmonders!

Everything goes wrong, yet so right

More than a typical comedy, Clarence Brown Theatre’s production of The Play That Goes Wrong is an unforgettable event. Combining a faux 1920s murder mystery with some of the most inventive and immersive gags I’ve ever seen staged, this show will draw you into its world before the curtain even rises. What’s remarkable is how the actors, portraying the hopelessly inept Cornley Drama Society, bring their own wonderful talent to make the chaos feel truly real. The cast are impeccably charming and hilarious, delivering spot-on physical comedy, pulling off difficult stunts, and brimming with personality (so much so that even a “dead man” is able to steal the show). The set design is a character in itself, amplifying the comedy with each falling wall and misplaced prop. If you're looking for a night full of laughs, you can’t miss this show. Every moment brims with personality and wit, and I promise—The Play That Goes Wrong will have you in awe from start to finish.

Don’t Miss This One!

I went to this play last night. I really had no expectations since I hadn’t read anything about the story line. Do. Not. Miss. This. Play. Not only is the storyline hilarious, but EACH character/actor made me laugh from start to finish. Their timing, expressions, and delivery was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed each moment and all of the laughter. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you.

A Hilarious Disaster: Studio Tenns ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is a Masterclass in Controlled Chaos

Bill Petty from Nashville, Tennessee

A meticulously orchestrated catastrophe that had the audience howling, pointing at the stage, and squirming at controlled devastation from start to finish. Under the expert direction of Matt Logan, the production showcased both the razor-sharp comedic timing and the technical wizardry required to pull off a play that revels in everything going wrong. The Play That Goes Wrong is a fantastical, farcical tour de force that requires a truly skilled cast to deliver a relentless physical comedy without missing a beat, and Studio Tenn’s ensemble rose to the challenge. The true magic of The Play - in order to get everything to go so horribly awry, everything must be executed with meticulous perfection. Studio Tenn’s production was nothing short of brilliant, proving that comedy can be as thrilling as the most dramatic of performances. This was an unforgettable night of theater, a masterclass in controlled chaos, and two hours that have generated a lifetime of laughter in reflection.

My husband, son and I saw this show and loved every minute of it!! All of the actors were great! The funniest show I've seen in a long time

for those of you who left after the first act!

You missed the best part of the play.....yes, it was corny, yes, it was over acted, but that's what made it funny.....the second act tied it all together. Its was a murder mystery play, they were acting, by the second act you put everything together and saw the humor! We loved it and if you liked Monty Python you will like it too.
